DIGITS@IISc is happy to launch a faculty recruitment portal (FRP) that enables prospective faculty members to apply online to the Institute. The portal will provide user accounts to the faculty candidates to help them to (a) submit their application package and (b) to know the status of their application.
The portal will also provide user accounts for Department chairs, Council Section, Registrar, Divisional Chairs, and the Director to obtain a status update.
At present, the application form is a fillable pdf form (available on the IISc website). FRP will now enable online entry of the same. PHP and MySQL (DB) are used for implementing the portal which is hosted on a virtual machine on the Azure cloud.
A prospective applicant will first register on the portal and login facility is provided to the applicant. The applicant, on logging in, will be presented with the online form which is an online replica of the faculty application form on the IISc website
The candidate will be able save and resume the contents during the application filling process any number of times. Before the applicant submits the application, the following documents are to be uploaded:
- CV
- Research Statement
- Teaching Statement
- Copies of best papers
- Any other information the candidate wishes to provide
Immediately after submission, the portal notifies the candidate through an email. Also, a notification is sent to the Council Section (recruitment@iisc.ac.in), Assistant Registrar (Council Section), Registrar, Chairs of Department 1, Department 2 (if applicable), and Department 3 (if applicable) to which the applicant has applied, and the concerned Divisional Chairs. The email will provide (a) a link through which all the documents can be accessed (b) an attachment (in WORD format) which is a signoff sheet (this attachment will have all relevant details filled in; rest of the details are to be filled in by the department that anchors the recruitment process of the candidate).
The chairs, divisional chairs, council section, AR (council), Registrar, and the Director, on logging into the portal, will be shown a dashboard that displays all the information they are authorized to access. This is a very useful feature of the portal that enables all of them to get a bird’s eye view of all faculty candidates whose applications are under process and whose applications they are authorized to access. Access to the portal is through their IISc email ID and password.
The URL of the portal is: https://recruitment.iisc.ac.in/frp/. This is Version 1 of the portal and the portal will be continuously enhanced. Suggestions are most welcome and may be emailed to council.recruitment@iisc.ac.in with a copy to office.digits@iisc.ac.in.
